Chloe Rocking a Horse Ride

Our neighbors around the corner stable horses and often folks ride their horses in our neighborhood.  This evening we just so happen to be outside when some folks came riding by.  One of them offered to give ride and Chloe was the only one ready to take the leap.

This doesn’t happen in most neighborhoods in the middle of town!

For some reason, allergies?, Chloe has been itchy and I couldn’t get here to focus on taking these pics.

Good Day at the Nethery’s

Dad running errands in the AM….alone.  Cleaning the house with Phoebe and Chloe late AM and early PM.  Surprise birthday parth for our good friend Myra at 2p with her friends and family.  Kids playing in the sprinkler after the party.  A great dinner and then catching lighting bugs with the kids just before sunset.  Fun!

Did I mention the three bucks that keep visiting the neighborhood?

Master of Tying Her Shoe Laces

Tonight Dylan sat down, after a few lessons, and taught herself how to tie her shoe laces.  She keeps smiling and giving the tightest hugs.  She is so proud of her accomplishment it makes me want to cry.

BTW...she went to her first soccer camp this week.  She had never played soccer before.  She really excelled per one of the camp coaches.  She scored two goals one day.

We keep telling her, and her sisters, she can do anything she sets her mind too.

Trees Got A Trim

We had our trees and bushes trimmed and cleaned up and they look great.  the company that did it was in and out in one day.  Two years ago I took a week off work and spent the entire week doing the same thing but their work looks a lot better.  Lesson learned - always pay to have you trees professionally manicured.

The Thrills In Our Neighborhood

One would think that living in the middle of Austin we wouldn't have much wildlife but where we live we have a protected creek on one side and a protected wildlife area on the other.  This morning, as our kids were out playing, our neighbor came over to let us know the he had killed a Coral snake that was sunning on their driveway.  Our girls love to spend time at their house and especially at their carport.

I had never seen a Coral snake so I went to take a look at it.  We pulled out of the trash can, the neighbor had cut it's head off, and it was as colorful as you would expect.   It was also very small...only about 2 feet long.  All I could think of was "red touches yellow, kill a fellow".  Since the girls followed us over I took it as an opportunity to teach them about the snake and what they should do if they ever see a snake.  Not sure Chloe go it, she kept saying "animals like to smell your hand".

I almost didn't tell Denise because she worries too much.

New Family Members...Mikey & Bevo

We are welcoming two new family members today.  Mikey and Bevo are brothers that we have adopted from a family that was forced to give them up due to their daughters allergies.  I have yet to meet them but Denise is already in love.  I hope the "boys" can handle the kids this evening.

10K Here I Come

I drove the 10K course I will be running this weekend and it's not too bad.  There are a couple of hills, one within the last mile (ouch!), that will make for a good challenge.  Most of the course is false flats.

I am looking forward to being done with the 12 week program.  Running is really not my thing!

How many monkeys will fit in a barrel?

This picture cracks me up.  It was taken by our friend who were watching the kids for us.  One small barrel full of water equals a lot of fun.  Notice how the three amigos are hogging the fun?

Blue Bonnets Galore

Today we went down the street to a local park and took some really great pictures in a field of blue bonnets.  The kids had a great time and so did mom and dad.

You can see the pics here.

Lance Armstrong Sighting

This morning I was out on a training run, I am training for my first and maybe last 10K, on Spicewood Springs Rd here in Austin.  I had just started my run and a car pulled over to the side of the road just in front of me.  I thought they were going to roll down their window to ask me for directions.  I heard another car coming up from behind so I turned around to look at the car as they drove by and then I saw a bike rider coming up behind the car.  I quickly recognized the rider as Lance Armstrong.

This was the second or third time I had seen him out training so, you would think I wouldn't be star struck.  What did I do....I yelled out "go lance".  LAME!!!

Oh well.  Maybe I will do better next time.
